Developer Naughty Dog has announced that the upcoming PS5 remake for The Last of Us, titled The Last of Us Part 1, has gone gold. This essentially means that primary development on the game has been completed, and Sony has been sent the master version of the game to release. Check out the announcement, made on Twitter, along with a small trailer, below.
Announced back in June, The Last of Us Part 1 is a ground-up remake of 2013’s seminal hit. Its existence was leaked shortly before its official announcement, with Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann taking the stage at Summer Game Fest to show off the game.
The remake features several enhancements, with promised improvements to combat, movement, stealth, and AI, among other things. As should be obvious, the game is also getting a comprehensive overhaul for its visuals.
The Last of Us Part 1 is set to hit PS5 on September 2. There will also be a PC release down the road. For our thoughts on The Last of Us Part 1, here’s why it feels like a cashgrab (though its developers insist it isn’t), and here are 10 things we want to see in the game.
Thrilled to announce The Last of Us Part I has gone gold! 🏅✨
