The Witcher 3

CD Projekt RED has finally released the long-awaited PS4 and PS4 Pro HDR patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. As per the patch notes, the update also contains performance optimizations, improvements to stability, “localization bugfixing” and minor visual improvements. The visual improvements haven’t been explicitly detailed but we’ll likely know about them in the coming days.

More importantly, PS4 and PS4 Pro owners can now experience the game with High Dynamic Range lighting. Just how gruesome does a Botchling look? You’ll finally be able to solve that mystery thanks to CD Projekt RED.

The developer has faced issues with PS4 Pro support before. Last year’s patch, which offered an improved resolution, caused excessive crashing. Eventually the issues were fixed but time will tell how stable this current patch is. Will it make performance in the base PS4 version better, especially given the performance issues at launch? Time will tell.

In the meantime, CD Projekt RED is working on Cyberpunk 2077, its next big game, with the company’s attendance confirmed for E3 2018. Stay tuned for more details as the event draws near.
