Witcher 3

In the past month or so a few respected video games publications have dropped giving scores to their reviews. Given that scores still matter for several developers and publishers out there, we recently asked CD Projeckt the impact of recent events on Witcher 3’s post launch marketing campaign and whether scores are essential for major AAA releases.

“I think that if a game is good, players will know that regardless of anything. If you play The Witcher and you think it’s good, just tweet or facebook or whatever about it to your friends. If you think we deserve it after you’ve played the game, we’d be honored. Scores are important, that’s true, but at the end of the day, we’re doing it for gamers,” Michał Krzemiński, Senior Art Producer said to GamingBolt.

Personally, I cannot disagree with Krzemiński. If the quality of the game speaks for itself, it will do well regardless of the critical acclaim. There have been several instances in the past where some games did not received any media attention but still became a hit among players. CD Projekt is one of the most player oriented studios out there and there is no doubt that Witcher 3 is shaping up to be great game. But what are your thoughts on this matter?
