The Witcher 3 Cross-Save Feature Not Planned For PS4 And Xbox One

Well, that's just odd, isn't it?

Those who own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch got a pleasant surprise this morning when, unannounced, a new update came to that version of the game. It included many quality of life tweaks, as well as a much welcomed visual upgrade (you can read more about it through here). One of the most surprising additions, however, was cross-saves between the Switch and PC versions of the title, specifically with Steam and GOG. Oddly, it also seems that’s where the feature will stay.

USGamer reached out to developer CD Projekt RED to ask about when the function would come to the other current home consoles, where Witcher 3 has been available since 2015. Surprisingly, the unspecified spokesperson said that the feature had been developed with the Switch in mind, with no current plans to add it to the other consoles.

“This option is something we designed for the Switch version specifically, together with Saber Interactive—the team which was closely cooperating with us on the Switch port,” the spokesperson said. “There are no plans regarding similar functionality in the other versions of The Witcher 3.”

It’s a bit of an odd one, but maybe cross-saves will come to the other systems down the line. Either way, at least the game is now available to just about anyone who would want it at this point in time.
