Two years after first announcing that a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was in development, series producer Eiji Aonuma showcased a new trailer. It was full of all kinds of details but reveals one very important thing – the skies above Hyrule are open for exploration. Check it out below.
The trailer showcases many floating islands and even teases that Hyrule Castle itself can float into the air. Link is also seen using a new traversal technique which is somewhat like dipping into a portal and emerging from the other side of a solid object. Runes like stopping time and sending boulders back into enemies also appear to be included.
There are still a lot of mysteries to solve. What’s going on with Zelda? Is this a sequel or taking place in a different timeline? What is Ganon’s role? The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, or whatever it ends up being called, is out in 2022. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully more gameplay in the coming months.
