The Elder Scrolls 6 – How Bethesda Should Handle End Game Content

More Elder Dragons? new areas? new missions?

The Elders Scrolls are the kind of games you’re never truly done with. You can keep playing them for hundreds of hours, you can finish the main quest, you can even finish most of the side quests, but even then, there’s always something that you can go back to, and still have a whole lot of fun with. If not, there’s always the option to start a new save file, and with a franchise like Elder Scrolls, that is a very valid option, given its infinite replayability.

But what about the endgame content, which you can only unlock after having passed certain milestones? Stuff you can only get to see way past the point that many others would look at as the game’s “end”? We’d love to see some awesome endgame content in The Elder Scrolls 6, and we have a few ideas about what that should be like. Skyrim handled endgame content pretty well, and if the inevitable sequel follows in its footsteps, it should be all set.

The most obvious thing to do would be to keep introducing tougher enemies as per your character’s level, which is essentially what Skyrim did with enemies such as the Elder Dragons, Ancient Dragons, Legendary Dragons, and the Ebony Warrior, all of whom were progressively more challenging than the others. Introducing similarly tougher enemies that give out better rewards and drop rare loot would be the most obvious choice for Bethesda.

Alternatively, maybe they could do something with their choice and consequence mechanics, something that admittedly enough the series isn’t exactly known for. Depending on how the game ends for each player, for example, certain locations or certain characters in the game’s world might be changed, certain new situations could crop up, and exploring these further after the game’s “ending” could prove to be very rewarding.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any ideas about what you would like to see in The Elder Scrolls 6’s end game content? Let us know in your comments below.
