The Callisto Protocol by Striking Distance Studios is shaping up to be an impressive survival horror title. Along with brutal gameplay and an array of deaths, the cinematics also have plenty of frightening potential. Interestingly, the developer had some help from PlayStation Studios Visual Arts for its cinematics.
Known better for its work on The Last of Us, the studio reportedly lent its motion capture studio for the title. Former PlayStation alumni Michael Mumbauer, CEO and founder of Liithos Entertainment working on Ashfall, revealed, “They contributed quite a lot to cinematics and more. Going to be a banger.” How extensively the team has been involved is unknown, but it should add even more quality to the overall presentation.
The Callisto Protocol is out on December 2nd for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. As for Visual Arts, it’s working on a “high visibility project” with a new internal development studio that Sony is hiring for. This could potentially be related to Uncharted, as Naughty Dog expressed the desire to build “future teams” for new titles in the series. Time will tell, so stay tuned.

It wasn’t just the use of the mocap studio. They contributed quite a lot to cinematics and more.
