Among the many games appearing at the Summer Game Fest’s showcase next week is Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol. It will be the first gameplay demo for the horror title with director Glen Schofield joining host Geoff Keighley.
Set in 2320 in the Black Iron prison colony on Callisto, the main character is prisoner Jacob Lee who’s fighting for survival amid an alien invasion. However, it seems the warden may have had a role in all of this. Along with using guns and melee weaponry, Lee will rely on GRP, a gravity weapon for freezing Biophages, tossing them into environmental hazards, and more.
Originally announced as part of the PUBG Battlegrounds universe, Schofield has since revealed that The Callisto Protocol is its own universe and story. That means no narrative connections to Krafton’s title (outside of any potential Easter eggs). The Callisto Protocol releases on December 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC along with PS4 and Xbox One.
