Since announcing both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 at E3 last year, Bethesda have been silent about both upcoming RPGs- which isn’t surprising, since they’ve mentioned that both are supposed to be next gen titles, and won’t be heard of for a while yet. Game director Todd Howard has spoken about The Elder Scrolls 6’s supposed longevity, and Starfield’s authenticity, but there hasn’t been any concrete developments on either game.
So then when exactly are we going to hear more about either of those games- or Starfield, since that’s supposed to be the one launching first out of the two? As per Todd Howard, it’s going to be a while yet. In an interview with IGN, Howard was asked about both games, and he mentioned that he likes to hold off on showing off his games until they’re very close to completing development, and that that’s the pattern we can expect him to follow with his upcoming releases as well.
“I’ve always been rather conservative, at least compared to our competitors,” said Howard. “I’d rather spend longer with less people than put 1,000 people on a game and try do it quickly.”
“I will say this,” he added later. “I like when you really see the game to when it’s out [to be] as short as possible. As short as people will let me.” You can watch the entire interview below.
So yeah- don’t hold your breath waiting for news on any of those games in the near future. We do know one thing though- The Elder Scrolls 6 might end up getting “Redfall” as its subtitle. Read more on that through here.
