Like many other titles, Endnight Games’ Sons of the Forest will be skipping 2021. In a recent tweet, the developer said it “hoped to have the game out this year” but more time was needed. The new release window is early to mid 2022 and some new screenshots have been released.

Endnight also confirmed that the title’s third trailer would be released in “the next few weeks” and would include the exact release date. It’s possible that we may see it appear during The Game Awards 2021 on December 9th so stay tuned for more details and updates.

At the very least, there are some new details to glean from the screenshots. In additional to the usual makeshift tools like wooden spears and stone clubs, players will also have access to katanas, metal axes, knives, C4, a range of firearms and scopes, and so on. All of it can be neatly arranged in one place, just in case you want a severed head on hand to scare any enemies.
