Arkane Studios is swinging for the fences with Redfall and trying several new things that the developer hasn’t typically been known for in the past. It’s open world design is, of course, one of those things, but its focus on co-op gameplay is probably just as prominent of a departure. Of course, those who want to play through the game solo are going to have the option to do so- but it will come with some caveats.
As revealed by Bethesda in an official FAQ for Redfall, the game will require a persistent online connection to be played, both for co-op and single player. Always-online requirements with single player experiences have proven vastly unpopular with many people in the past, so this is likely to come as a bit of a disappointment if you’re in that group.
Meanwhile, Bethesda also confirms in the FAQ that players will require a Bethesda.net account to be able to access the game.
Redfall launches on May 2 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out its PC requirements through here.
