In its recent financial report, Electronic Arts provided an update on upcoming titles. It confirmed that the next Battlefield and Need for Speed titles, developed by DICE and Criterion Games respectively, will release in fiscal year 2022. That means sometime between April 1st 2021 and March 31st 2022, though CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that the next Battlefield would release in holiday 2021.

Both titles will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with “at least” six new titles planned for release in fiscal year 2022. CEO Andrew Wilson said that the new Need for Speed “is bringing some astounding visual leaps, developed by the Criterion team, who have launched some of the most highly-rated games in franchise history.” As for the next Battlefield, he stated that it will have “never-before-seen scale.”

“The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver on a true next-gen vision for the franchise. We have hands-on play testing underway internally, and the team’s been getting very positive feedback on the game as we’ve begun to engage our community.” More details can be expected in Spring 2021 so we’re still a ways off.

In the meantime, Electronic Arts has Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered out today for Xbox One, PS4 and PC while the Switch version releases on November 13th. It’s also prepping for EA Play being added to Xbox Game Pass. Titles on the service are currently available to preload and will unlock on November 10th.
