Monster Hunter Rise

Capcom has released some new gameplay footage for Monster Hunter Rise, which launches next year exclusively for Switch. The focus is on the Great Sword in a hunt for Aknosom in the Shrine Ruins. However, we also get a look at various other mechanics like the Wirebug and how it mixes up the combat.

The Great Sword has always been known as a “high risk, high reward” weapon. As such, it delivers strong damage at the risk of lower movement and perfect timing. With the Wirebug, the player can more easily zip around and set up aerial Great Sword hits. The tool can also be used to more easily evade attacks and recover from being knocked down.

Aksonom is also intriguing because it has a number of interesting moves despite its moderate speed. Along with charging ahead and flying, it can also unleash molten projectiles. Monster Hunter Rise is out on March 26th 2021 for the Switch – stay tuned for more gameplay, especially covering the other weapon types.
