Monster Hunter Rise

After weeks of rumors, Capcom finally unveiled its Switch-exclusive Monster Hunter Rise. Taking place in a new setting, it sees players investigating a mysterious Rampage and taking on new and returning monsters. However, is the game actually developed on a Switch-compatible version of RE Engine like the rumors stated?

According to Capcom UK senior community manager Socks on Twitter, the game is indeed running on RE Engine. While the visuals may not be as detailed as Monster Hunter World, Monster Hunter Rise does offer some other benefits. Loading times and transitions between areas, for instance, are completely absent.

Gameplay-wise, there’s a lot to like from the new customizable Palamutes that can be ridden into battle to the Wirebug which allows for grappling and mid-air shifts in movement. More details will be revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online next week so stay tuned. Monster Hunter Rise is slated to release on March 26th 2021 for Switch.
