Monster Hunter Rise

Following the reveal of the new Heavy Bowgun and Light Bowgun moves in Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom has released trailers focused on the Hammer and Sword and Shield. The former is still focused on KO damage and big hits while the latter is still the best all-around weapon. Check out what new moves they bring to the table in the sequel.

The “Spinning Bludgeon” should be familiar to Monster Hunter World fans – it uses the Wirebug to leap into the air and spin-attack foes (with the option for charging it up). “Impact Crater” is cool because it’s an uppercut by way of silkbind that transitions into a big downward slam. As for the the Sword and Shield, it still has Perfect Rush for strong combo damage.

However, it now has “Falling Shadow” which is similar to Falling Bash but starts from mid-air via silkbind. “Windmill” is more interesting since it swings the sword around with Ironsilk, both executing a number of attacks while also providing increased defense in the first swing. Overall, both weapons benefit from more damage options thanks to these new moves.

Monster Hunter Rise is out on March 26th 2021 for Nintendo Switch. A limited-time demo will be released on the eShop in January 2021.
