Leikir Studio’s Metal Slug Tactics, a strategy RPG take on the beloved run and gun side-scrolling series, has been delayed to 2023. It was planned to launch in 2022 for Nintendo Switch and PC with Dotemu of Streets of Rage 4, Windjammers 2 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge fame as publisher.
In a recent tweet, the publisher said, “Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make Metal Slug Tactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead. See you in 2023!” This can mean anything, from more polish being required to significant development work remaining. Either way, we’ll have to wait.
Metal Slug Tactics offers turn-based combat with Marco, Eri, Fio and Tarma available as playable characters. Missions are procedurally generated, and new sections of a stage are added on the fly, upping the challenge significantly. Regular foes await along with bosses but players can use the SVX-15D Slugnoid mech for additional firepower, the Sync mechanic for simultaneous attacks and Super Attacks. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.
