We finally got our first proper look at Hogwarts Legacy gameplay earlier this year, nearly a couple of years on from its announcement. WB Games also said at the time that the open world action RPG would be out in Holiday 2022, but given the complete lack of updates on the game in the time that’s passed since then, many have started questioning that.
It seems, however, that the game might indeed be out in time for the end of the year. As reported by VGC, the official art book for the upcoming title – The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy: Exploring the Unwritten Wizarding World – recently had its release date changed on Amazon from its previous placeholder date of December 31 to December 6.
Of course, art books and games don’t necessarily launch on the same day, but they do always at least launch in close proximity, which could suggest that we’re looking at an early December (or perhaps late November) launch for Hogwarts Legacy. It’s also worth pointing out that the art book for fellow upcoming WB Games title Gotham Knights is launching on the same day as the game itself, so if Hogwarts Legacy is following the same pattern, December 6 could be its final launch date.
There isn’t long left before, if the lack of updates keeps up, it’ll became clear that the game isn’t going to be able to launch this year, so if WB Games is indeed planning on sticking to the plan, it shouldn’t be too long before we hear something from official channels.
Whenever it launches, Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, though whether or not the Switch version will be cloud-based remains to be seen. Recently, details on the game’s Deluxe and Collector’s Editions were also leaked- read more on that through here.
