Fortnite Twitch Viewing May Have Peaked, Says Analyst Firm

Fortnite is, undeniably, one of the biggest games in the world, if not the biggest. It’s consistently stayed on top of the most viewed Twitch streams, even as competitors have come and gone, such as EA and Respawn’s recent Apex Legends, and what was the original battle royale-themed shooter, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. But could it have finally peaked in viewership? Analyst firm Piper Jaffray thinks it’s possible (via Wccftech).

Looking over various Twitch data provided by Sully Gnome, the analyst firm thinks that the game’s overall Twitch viewership may have peaked against three consecutive quarterly dips. It’s not to say the game is going down, per se, or won’t remain at the top of the charts for the foreseeable future (they expect numbers to bump up with each new season’s release, for example)- it’s more that they don’t see a significant influx of new people beyond what the game has already achieved. That takes in the amount of competition, new and old, and current viewership trends.
