Fortnite On Switch No Longer In PS4/Xbox One Pool For Cross-Play

Nintendo Switch Fortnite players are now in the same pool as mobile players.

Fortnite became the first major game last year to enable cross-platform play across all platforms it was on. When it did so, it put PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch players in the same pool for cross-play parties, so that players across all three platforms would by default be matchmade with each other. This is no longer the case, as part of the recent update 8.10.

Instead, Nintendo Switch players are now in the same pool as iOS and Android players, while PS4 and Xbox One players share a separate pool. Given the fact that the Switch version of Fortnite suffers from performance issues and is capped at 30 FPS, there have been many players who’ve felt that it’s not on quite the same level as the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, making competition across all three systems unfair and mismatched- so this change makes plenty of sense.

It’s also worth noting that Switch players can still play Fortnite with those playing on a PS4 or an Xbox One. You just have to do so manually now by inviting such players to your party- it’s just that the Switch version of the game no longer matches with other console versions by default.

Update 8.10 also brought several other changes and additions with it, including a new vehicle (which is actually a ball), as well as vending machine changes. Read more on that through here.
