Fortnite on Mobile Has Five Times The Revenue of PUBG Mobile In Spite of Having Only Half The Downloads

PUBG is on iOS and Android, and has more users, and still doesn't make nearly as much money as Fortnite.

Fortnite

PUBG is a general beast- it’s broken all manner of records since it launched first on PC last year, and once it hit mobiles, it managed to reach a staggering 300 million downloads. In contrast, Fortnite, widely considered to be the most popular game in the world at the moment, has 125 million players, total, across all platforms it is available on.

And yet, in spite of PUBG having more than double the number of downloads that Fortnite does, Fortnite still runs circles around it when it comes to making money. According to figures released to Bloomberg by market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, Fortnite makes five times more revenue than PUBG does on mobiles. Keep in mind, PUBG has double the number of players- and is also available on iOS and Android (Fortnite is currently only on iOS). Fortnite has generated $92 million revenue in 11 weeks as of June 18, compared to roughly $19 million made by PUBG in the same tracking window.

This just goes to show us some things- a) Fortnite‘s monetization strategy is better than PUBG‘s, and b) PUBG‘s player base is possibly not as engaged as Fortnite. (It also shows us that Fortnite has prioritized the correct platforms, when it comes to monetization opportunities).

Of course, even though Fortnite might be doing better, PUBG is still doing good- there’s room in the market for both, and both have earned a frightening amount of money at this point.
