Various impressions have dropped for Luminous Productions’ Forspoken, providing new details on customization, exploration, and so on. However, one bit stuck out in the Spanish publication 3djuegos. It spoke to co-directors Takeshi Aramaki and Takefumi Terada (translation via DeepL), who confirmed that the “central story” of the game would develop over 30 to 40 hours of gameplay.

You can interpret this as the story taking that long to complete. However, Terada also mentioned an endgame that “promises to be satisfying” and would consist of side quests, dungeons, and more. While we’ve only seen gameplay of a single quest, there are Mana Pools to collect (which unlock new spells), Belfries that reveal nearby points of interest, Pilgrim’s Refuges for resting and upgrading gear, and so on.

At one point, Frey ventures into the depths where the all-consuming Break is strongest, taking on bigger challenges. Time will tell just how much post-game content Forspoken offers, but it’s certainly shaping up.

Forspoken is out on January 24th, 2023 for PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime, especially since it will appear at Tokyo Game Show later this week.
