There’s been no shortage of major delays to games all throughout this year, and unsurprisingly, there’s more to come. Another upcoming game has now been pushed back, though this one probably won’t come as a surprise to many. Square Enix has announced that Forspoken, which was due out on October 11, has now been pushed back by over three months and will now launch in January next year.
According to the developer Luminous Production, this was a “strategic” decision, and the game is now in the final polishing stages of production. Take from that what you will.
“As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the launch date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023,” the delay announcement reads. “All game elements are now complete, and development is in its final polishing phase.”
This isn’t the first time Forspoken has been delayed. Last year, the open world action RPG was handed a May 2022 launch date, only to be pushed back to October in March. The title has come under fire for looking a little rough in its showings over the last few months.
Forspoken is now set to launch for PS5 and PC on January 24, 2023.
