Creative director Raio Mitsuno wants to make sure the banter is "timed nicely" where it doesn't feel like too much or too little.

Luminous Productions’ Forspoken has received some new details on the Seat of Reflection, one of many dungeons scattered through Athia where resources and a boss await. However, in the same preview with Game Informer, creative producer Raio Mitsuno also talked about the frequency of banter between Frey and Cuff.

Cuff is a sentient bracelet that accompanies Frey on her journey through Athia. While it’s more concerned about saving the realm, our hero is more hesitant. As such, their relationship is more akin to “frenemies” and they’ll often snipe at each other while exploring. But how often is “too often”? Mitsuno said that, “There’s been some commentary about the frequency of banter between Frey and Cuff when you’re out in the world.

“Those kinds of things we’re looking at in terms of fine-tuning the frequency, making sure that it’s not to the point where it feels overwhelming, but we want to make sure it’s timed nicely. Where it doesn’t feel like there’s too much silence when you’re playing out in the vast world. But we don’t want it to be too much. You know, you don’t want it to be noise, obviously. So, we are taking a lot of feedback and making sure we’re adjusting things to make sure that it’s kind of the optimal experience.”

For example, when coming across the Seat of Reflection dungeon, Cuff will ask if Frey wants to enter inside. This prompts her to exclaim, “No!… But I mean, it’s kind of asking for it.” While such exchanges are more lighthearted, there are plenty of occasions where Cuff isn’t too happy with Frey’s noncommittal attitude. As such, there will be some tension in their early exchanges.

Forspoken releases on October 11th for PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.
