Square Enix has announced that Forspoken, originally slated to release on May 24th, has been delayed. It will now be releasing on October 11th. In an official tweet, Luminous Productions said its vision was to deliver a “game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to use.”
Over the next few months, it will “focus all of our efforts on polishing the game.” The last major gameplay reveal for Forspoken was in December 2021 along with hands-off previews. Though the exploration and combat looked decent, the overall performance still looked rough. Square Enix would then go on to confirm options for 4K/30 FPS, 1440p/60 FPS and ray tracing.
With this delay, it’s possible that we may see new gameplay footage at the rumored PlayStation Showcase happening this month. Otherwise, Square Enix Presents at E3 2022 (assuming a digital event takes place, since the physical event was cancelled) is looking likely. Forspoken is in development for PS5 and PC, and will be a timed console exclusive for 24 months. Stay tuned for more details and announcements in the coming months.
