Motive Studios’ remake for Dead Space has received an official release window, launching in early 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Previously, an October 2022 time frame was considered but Electronic Arts wanted to use the extra time to “wow” fans, as per a report by Jeff Grubb.
In the meantime, a new developer livestream is available which goes over different aspects of the audio design. For instance, there’s the A.L.I.V.E. system that regulates sounds related to Isaac’s overall health. It’s based on how long he’s been sprinting, the amount of adrenaline accumulated, stress and so on with different versions of dialogue playing as a result.
Other sections showcase how audio occlusion and 3D audio works along with revamped sound effects for some weapons like the Plasma Cutter. Finally, there’s an atmospheric walkthrough that showcases how everything comes together, though keep in mind that the footage isn’t representative of the final release. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
