In spite of many people (including us) assuming the worst when the Steam page for Dead Island 2 got taken down yesterday surreptitiously, it appears as though the game is still in development. Speaking to Game Watcher, publisher Deep Silver confirmed that the game is still in active development by Sumo Digital, the guys who usually bring us the Sonic racing games, and that they will share more information once they have something new to share.
“Dead Island 2 is in development with Sumo Digital. Once we have new details to share, we will do so,” Deep Silver said.
Maybe, hopefully, we will get to see more of the game at E3 this year? It is entirely possible that the Steam page got taken down to be replaced with a new one more representative of the game in development right now.
Dead Island 2 was originally announced at E3 2014. It is currently planned for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
