Dambuster Studios’ Dead Island 2 has gone gold, which means principal development is done. But that’s not all – instead of releasing on April 28th, it’s now launching on April 21st. It follows a cheeky little trailer by the developer about fans asking if the game would ever release.
Announced back in 2014, Dead Island 2 takes place in Los Angeles months after the first game’s events. The zombie outbreak has reached the city, which has been quarantined in response. As one of six playable Slayers, you have to escape, fighting zombies along the way. Each Slayer has unique skills, and the Skill Deck allows for customizing them in unexpected ways.
Dead Island 2 launches for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Head here for more details on its realistic procedural gore made possible with the FLESH System. You can also check out some more extensive gameplay here.
You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early.
