After its re-reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022, Deep Silver’s Dead Island 2 has been delayed. Yes, again.
Originally slated for February 3rd, 2023, it’s now launching on April 28th, 2023. In a new tweet, Dambuster Studios said, “The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are.” However, it noted that development is on the “final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch.
“For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us.” In the meantime, a Dead Island 2 Showcase is taking place on December 6th on Twitch and YouTube. It will debut a new trailer and gameplay.
Announced back in June 2014, Dead Island 2 has seen numerous delays since then and even changed developers from YAGER to Sumo Digital before finally settling on Dambuster. In development for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC, the action RPG is set in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.
Overcome by zombie hordes, its six playable characters get to hacking and slashing with the new FLESH system enhancing the blood and gore. For more information on the title and its mechanics, head here.
The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now. The new release date for Dead Island 2 will be April 28th 2023.#DeadIsland #SeeYouInHELLA pic.twitter.com/Vf1NARTECo
