CD Projekt On Witcher 3’s Resolution On PS4 & Xbox One: ‘Little Difference Between 1080p & 900p’

"It’s the adventure and thrill you get from playing the game that counts," says CD Projekt's Michał Krzemiński.

In a recent preview event, CD Projekt confidently showed off the PS4, PC and Xbox One versions. I think this was a great move by CD Projekt as it instills confidence in consumers that whatever platform they are going to buy the game on it’s going to deliver the same core experience.

So what prompted CD Projekt to do this, given the fact many developers/publishers are not too keen talking about or showing off the Xbox One version? “The answer is simple, we’re very confident of what we’ve managed to achieve. The Witcher is simply a good game, regardless of the platform you choose to play it on,” Michał Krzemiński, Senior Art Producer said to GamingBolt.

But there is a technical difference between the PS4 and Xbox One version. The PS4 version, as expected is running at 1080p and the Xbox One is currently running at 900p. So how likely is it that the developers will be able to bump the Xbox One version to 1080p at launch or maybe post launch?

“You noted that we’ve shown the game on all platforms [in the recent preview event]. We did this also to show that there’s little difference between 1080p and 900p in terms of the actual experience you get. These numbers are just numbers, it’s the adventure and thrill you get from playing the game that counts,” he added.

Michał’s statements hold true for those players who don’t actually care about technical numbers such as frame rate and resolution. But for players who own both the PS4 and Xbox One, performance and better resolution may matter for them. Regardless, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is shaping up to be a remarkable role playing open world experience so in my opinion, whatever platform you play the game on, it might very well be the experience of the year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases this May across the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
