Final Fantasy 16’s New Game Plus Mode Will Feature Changed Enemy Placements, Entirely New Battles

Those who want to do a repeat playthrough of the RPG with a great level of challenge will have the option to do so.

Thanks to a recent round of hands-on previews, a bevy of new details have emerged on Final Fantasy 16, in addition to plenty of new gameplay footage being revealed for Square Enix’s highly anticipated RPG. Courtesy of a preview published on the official PlayStation Blog, details on its previously confirmed New Game Plus mode have also emerged.

Though Final Fantasy 16 will not feature multiple difficulty settings by default, those who want a tougher challenge will have the option to do so in its New Game Plus mode, which, of course, will be accessible once you’ve finished the game.

And what exactly will the New Game Plus mode entail on that front? In addition to enemies putting up a tougher challenge, their placements will also be remixed, so players will be coming up against foes in unpredictable fashion. Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that the New Game Plus mode will also feature entirely new battles that won’t be present in the base playthrough.

Meanwhile, Square Enix has also revealed that Final Fantasy 16 will have over 11 hours of cutscenes across its runtime, and will launch with multiple graphics modes for 4K and 60 FPS options.

Final Fantasy 16 is due out for PS5 on June 22. A PC version is also on the table, but won’t be launching anytime soon, it seems.
