Resident Evil 4 Remake vs. Original Video Compares Gameplay, Graphics, and More

While various sections in the remake's Salazar Castle have their changes and new mechanics, they're faithful to the original game overall.

Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake received tons of new gameplay footage and details last week, providing a better look at Salazar Castle, Ramon Salazar, and the knife fight with Jack Krauser. But how does all of this compare to the original? ElAnalistaDeBits has a new video highlighting the differences and jumps in fidelity from the original to the remake.

Though the entrance to the castle and encounter with the second variant of Las Plagas are different in the remake, the ambush with the catapults is the same. The cannon can only destroy the castle’s front door in the original game, but in the remake, it can be freely aimed. Along with improved environments and textures, lighting changes give an altogether different mood once inside. Even the fight with Krauser is interesting, with several moments calling back to the original.

Resident Evil 4 launches on March 24th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It’s due to receive a “special” demo, which could drop during the upcoming Capcom Spotlight showcase on March 9th.
