Blizzard Entertainment’s first Developer Update livestream for Diablo 4 detailed what players could expect from the open beta in March and its system requirements. However, it also showcased gameplay from a Stronghold, namely Hope’s Light in northern Scosglen. Check it out below.
Strongholds are locations in each of Sanctuary’s five zones with unique stories, bosses, gameplay objectives and rewards. They’re meant exclusively for a single player (or their co-op party), and once conquered, the Stronghold turns into a public space everyone can access. Hope’s Light is about a lighthouse of the same name, which has been extinguished.
Since the nearby port town is concerned, the player ventures to the lighthouse to investigate, encountering various Drowned along the way. A new race of monsters, the Drowned emerge from the ocean depths for an unknown purpose. Completing a Stronghold grants loot and Renown, the latter giving additional Potion charges, skill points and Paragon points if you hit certain milestones.
Diablo 4 launches on June 6th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Its open beta is set for March 17th to 20th for those with early access and March 24th to 27th for everyone else.
