Now that the long-awaited revival of Silent Hill is well and truly underway, many have turned their attention to some of Konami’s other major franchises that have been lying dormant for years, and questions about when they, too, might step back into the limelight have been asked often. In 2021, a VGC report claimed that a new Castlevania game and a Virtuos-developed Metal Gear Solid 3 remake were both in the works– and it seems both those games could be announced soon.
The same has been claimed by VGC on the first episode of its new podcast. Allegedly, Konami has “big” plans in place for E3 2023, which is scheduled for June 13-16, where the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake and a new mainline Castlevania game will both be unveiled.
It’s also claimed that Konami is still unsure about how to proceed with the previously rumoured remasters of older Metal Gear Solid games. Allegedly, Metal Gear Solid 3’s remake and how well it is received will be used as a “testbed” to make further decisions on what to do with older Metal Gear titles.
Earlier this year, veteran Konami producer Noriaki Okamura said that the company is planning to make announcements for “long awaited” games in 2023.
